METHYLPHOSPHONIC ACID DIPHENYL ESTER - Introduction
DIPHENYL methylphosphate (DIPHENYL methylphosphate) is an organic phosphate compound with the chemical formula (C6H5O)2P(O)CH3. It is a colorless to slightly yellow solid with a special aromatic odor.
The main use of DIPHENYL methyl phosphate is as a flame retardant and plastic additive. Because the phosphorus atom in its phosphate group contains high oxidizing power, it can inhibit the combustion process of substances, so it is widely used in fire prevention, flame retardant materials and electronics industries. In addition, it can also be used as a solvent and a phosphorus source in the reaction.
The preparation of DIPHENYL methylphosphate can be completed by a two-step reaction. First, phenylmethanol reacts with triphenylphosphine under alkaline conditions to form phenyl methyl phosphate, and then phenyl methyl phosphate reacts with methyl halide to form DIPHENYL methyl phosphate.
When using DIPHENYL methyl phosphate, you need to pay attention to its safety. It is a combustible substance that may burn when in contact with an ignition source. During handling and storage, care should be taken to avoid contact with oxidants, acids and bases to prevent dangerous reactions. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as goggles, gloves and protective clothing before use. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help.
